Is she really too far gone to rescue Jaap?

Don't let those Activa alloys go... Always a very strong demand for those....

Well Jim, I will save the alloys. We have loved driving the xantia for more than 10 years. At some stage, you have to say good bye.
It is simpky too costly and troublesome to save her from oblivion. I will admit I would try harder for any of the XM's.
Only new spheres, brakes all round, wind shield and going bearings on the rear axle, not to mention the rotten exhaust and worn driver seat, is quite a lot of money.

But the rot in the wiring loom that did her in, in the end. I did have a look and tried to find the rotten wires. I found a lot of water coming out of the plastic tube in that wiring loom going into the chassis leg. Any rot further on there, isn't repairable in my view. You simply cannot get to it. And even if you could, when will the next wire finally give up...Driving as much as we do for work, it has to be reasonably reliable.
But we are both sorry to see it go..getting rid of her isn't easy either, here in the valleys of county Mayo..

Yes, that does add up to a load of problems Jaap. Rear trailing arm bearings is not a nice job and indeed, once electrical niggles start you really don't know when they're going to end...

How much would a set of Activa alloys, with decent tyres on, be worth?

And a set of S2 Exclusive alloys?

Not a clue, didn't even know they were rare, the alloys I mean.
