The pictures on the news are unbelievable. It's like 1962 again. One chap has lost his Pug 307 in an igloo of snow which he had to create just to get to the roof! It's the jet streams fault. It's jetted off south!

I think it's going to have to be thermals for the 7th.

Why not get Jaap to drive it over and then fly back?

Here in Lancaster we've just had a light dusting of snow, but in Millom 15 miles away they've had 17 ft snowdrifts. The rescue services have had to use Hagglund's to get people out!!

It's amazing how locally it can vary... I went out for a ride in the XM on Sunday along some of my favourite lanes and was amazed to see the road almost blocked in one place by snowdrifts and yet a mile or so back and a mile or so further on there was nothing...

Russ, don't worry about the 7th. It's going to be glorious. The organiser has friends in very high places ;)

Back on topic... :)

What about a convoy of sorts, if nothing more, to show off the cars to the general public and block up Stamford... :D

If the weather is good and I can coerce Mrs Dm, I might bring two to make my own traffic jam.

It has been mentioned before Will about a convoy however the consensus was that we wouldn't have one due to it being just the one day event.

For the larger events such as the National and the CX, XM and Xantia Rally there are convoy runs which are normally held on the Saturday including a nice end location.

If it was a weekend show then yes, but as its quite the informal one day meet we didnt think time would permit and also quite a few people will be travelling a fair distance so might no want to jump back in the car again so soon.

If the weather isn't too clever though I might convoy down to the local pub...! ;)

What about making this a weekend event in future possibly a little later in the year? Later in April or mid May?

That is a possible idea Robert however would need a fair bit of extra organising...

We originally chose Burghley House to be our location for this meet after a successful East Midlands Group Meet we had there back in 2011 - viewtopic.php?f=20&t=2680 - which also coincided with the Fine Food Fair that is held on the same weekend.

Image

In theory I suppose we could run this as a two day event as the Fine Food Fair is also Saturday and Sunday however camping does become a problem. There's no facilities at Burghley for camping and thus either we or the show go'ers would have to look into some camp site etc that is suitable if people wanted to stay over...

Then there's also the Saturday Evening/Sunday Morning food situation too...

The original idea behind this meeting was never for it to be a "big one", but attendance last year was impressive, we'll have to see what this year brings attendance wise...

From the 17 cars above it went to 80+ for the first named "rally", who knows what this year brings. I look forward to seeing if my publicity of the event on Modern Citroen forums has worked too, and if any come along...

It's quite the informal meet really, although has got the prize-giving for the CX, BX, XM and Xantia...

Regarding timing I think if later then you're running into some other shows, and there's definitely a lack of shows earlier on in the season. Striking the right balance with the weather of course is a tricky one!

I think it is nice to have a rally so early in the season, even for just the one day, plus the venue and turn out last year were both excellent. Obviously the appeal is not so great coming from further afield, given the shorter term and the weather being a bit chancey. Many thanks Franklin for organizing the event and I can't wait!!
