Yes thanks that would be great, there's a big question mark over the cambelt and waterpump so will need to be done as a matter of course when the IP is changed.

Yeah, Chris is my best mate, who needs enemies when you have someone to sell you a BX!
Paul (citroenxm) helped us fit a Bosch injection pump on it in North Walls the other week but unfortunately the control lever was damaged so it was a fail. I suppose it's to be expected when you buy a Bosch pump for a quid off ebay and it arrives loosely packaged in scrunched up carrier bags! Managed to find a 2nd identical pump with a working control lever but couldn't get the timing right seems both these pumps were semi electronic so impossible to set the timing without an ECU (they were off Xantias) so we put the Lucas back on and Chris took it home to Loughborough.
I gather he's been in touch with Will (dieselman) who lives a few minutes away and has met Chris and myself before. The BX drives well, has a LHM leak but he's getting that sorted today I think. There's a few bits and pieces that need doing but I'll be helping him sort them when I can.

Re: bought myself a Citroen BX!
I was actually quite reluctant to let it go, have always wanted a BX but at the moment I have too many cars, several at my girlfriend's parents a couple at my Mum's including the 2.5 from Len. The BX was on my brother's driveway but he may be forced to leave his house due to the new bedroom tax so I've had to start getting rid of a few cars.
One day when I've sorted all the issues with the XM (ha!) I will look for another BX, maybe a diesel estate or an Athena.

IM so Sorry, it went tits up for us... Feel a bit bad..
Anyway, theres a VERY SMALL window of fuel pumps you can get that will work...
These pumps will be on Early L M or N reg Xantias ONLY... or equivilent 406 models, BUT peugeot cars tend to have lucas on them more frequently...
Peugeot 306 models on L or M reg would be a good bet too....
But thats ALL..
OR: Get a Later BX TZD Turbo. I had a H reg Black one years ago, ad that was Bosch Ready!!

How do you mean Bosch ready, do you mean to say a later BX had an ECU, don't seem to remember those. And you meant equivalent 405 models, not 406 didn't you.citroenxm wrote:IM so Sorry, it went tits up for us... Feel a bit bad..

From what I understand it needs to be a fully mechanical pump not one that came off a car with an ECU.
Anyway nice to meet you, shame it didn't work out but even if the control lever on the first pump was working still wouldn't have been able to get the timing right being a semi electronic. At least now I know how to do a pump swap!

Re: bought myself a Citroen BX!
Why do you want to swap the pump, presumably to run on vegetable oil.
Is it worth it?

Re: bought myself a Citroen BX!
Some Later BX turbo D models came with Bosch Pump already fitted from Factory. I had a Black H reg one and it had a Bosch pump. Yet a mate had a J reg one with Lucas on it...endorfin wrote:How do you mean Bosch ready, do you mean to say a later BX had an ECU, don't seem to remember those. Thinking about what I said above, I think all 406 had the Key Pad meaning them useless for a pump. Yes the 405 was the other car with bosch pumps that would do...

Re: bought myself a Citroen BX!
At £1.40 a litre for diesel Vs £0.0 for veg oil I would say it's definitely worth it. In any case it appears the Lucas is suffering from leaking seals so needs to be changed anyway. Chris has had the car off me, currently at a workshop being fitted with a new high pressure pump. I understand he's been in touch with you.Dieselman wrote:Why do you want to swap the pump, presumably to run on vegetable oil.
