The XM complements the weird cars quite well!

You are trying to make all of us jealous! :) And I see old jag's, big campers. Truly inspirational!

The S Type 3.8 (Auto with wire wheels) was my dad's, the Armstrong Siddeley, Berkeley and Nobel were mine - still have the Berkeley.

I won't mention the Isettas, Heinkels, Goggomobils, other Nobels, other Berkeleys, NSUs, Powerdrive, Fiats (500B, 500L, 126, 126 bis, 500 Giardineria), bedfords, Vauxhall PAs, wife's Wyvern, LR S2a 109 Dormobile, Toyota Hiaces, etc,

The bog camper was sold last year as part of buying a new house! It was bought brand new for £44500 - Merc 416cdi with 156bhp and true 100 mph capability - sold with 22,000 miles.

I can't afford to buy bubble cars any more - despite owning some 35-40 micro cars. I doubt I will ever be able to buy another Messerschmitt for £200.

I guess I know why not: I googled your Messerschmidt machine a while ago and it seems that a good example could fetch a few pennies.

Better stick to XM's :)

'There are car clubs in Europe, the US, and elsewhere[where?] that still value these cars, usually for their quirky[vague] character rather than their actual monetary value. Nonetheless, some collectors[who?] will pay over €20,000 for a well-maintained "Schmitt".
Aftermarket reproduction parts are made for the KR200,[by whom?] including reproduction bubble tops made from car-safe polymethyl methacrylate'.

That's an amazing list of cars Campbell. WOW! Still like the Smart though. And used prices of them are very affordable too now.

More interesting the better in my opinion.

€20,000 is cheap nowadays

http://www.rmauctions.com/lots/lot.cfm?lot_id=1057080
$52,900

$46,900

http://www.rmauctions.com/lots/lot.cfm?lot_id=1057256
$77625

$322,000 - yep, that was $322,000!

A bog standard non matching numbers car is £15-20,000

a matching numbers car can add a few thousand and a perfect restoration is easily £25-30,000 nowadays.

There was a tatty car, worse condition than mine at the same auction and it fetched $24,000.

Another similar laid up for a decade Kr200 sold in England the week after for £15,600.
