6612 so made on 16 December 1994.
and thanks Dieselman for this on another thread!
For the black door trims, flat down then prime with primer and paint with satin black spray paint. Don't forget to do the slim window guides as well, it makes significant difference to the overall look. The XM was designed with a "band of glass" round the whole car, so needs the black to make it work.

It is days like today that you wish you had a tool kit in the car. Am awaiting the recovery van as the diesel return pipe behind the pump has come adrift and is spewing diesel everywhere. What should be a fifteen minute job is complicated by not being able to remove the intake pipes.also I need a new back box on the Xm estate thanks To rusting trough.

Ohh, that's bloody unfortunate Campbell

I do carry an emergency tool-kit on anything other than local trips and touch-wood, never used it yet but I bet if I do break down the one tool or small item I might need won't be in there...

It's always the way...

Vince, it's the one you saw me crack open on the Oakham bypass during the X Rally ;)

It lives in a small plastic rugged case - a Pelicase. Needless to say mine had a former life and I rescue the one I use from a skip...

I carry a few small spares in there like fuses, relays and odd Jubilee clips.

Just about to add a cheapo multimeter to the kit...

Always have a general purpose socket set and pliers in the car! Bad luck mate!

I'd toyed with the idea of throwing the tool kit in but thought nah.

Fixed in 15 mins with a new bit of hose.

And another 500mile drive today afterwards including watching a drunk driver being chased round a car park after hitting another car.

Xms are so comfy for long journeys. And ybl was rather full on the way home.

Did the pipe split or crack or did it just get loose. Yes long distances are great to travel with a tool kit I mean an XM :)

Pipe split. Not too bad but enough to make it pop off. It's just an annoying position to get to without taking the inlet pipes off.
It's all fixed and the car has done 1160 miles in the past four days.

New glow plugs on Tuesday and I'm going to paint the spare manifold and fit it and new leak off pipes on the injectors when i fit it.

I'm going to have a look and see if I can try that pipe. You say behind the pump meaning it can get pretty hot there I guess. Maybe time to just replace by meaning of prevention rather than repair, or does this make no sense at all

My white car had the same issue which is why I knew exactly what to look for. The pipes are just a pop on so no tools beyond 8, 10 and 13mm sockets, screwdriver and an Allan key and 20 mins to change them all on the injectors.

N477 was dropped off at the garage for its new glow plugs, new leak off pipes for the injectors and a couple of other things. I've a sharan as the courtesy car. What a useless underpowered lump it is. Gutless, poor visibility out the front and uneconomical. It averaged 24mpg on the drive home. A petrol engine!! No, it's a turbo diesel!!!!!!!!!
