FCF and BXC Following an Update...

Post by CitroJim » Mon May 27, 2013 4:39 am

Basically, just a set of Blue Screens of Death so the FCF and BXC are down for the time being whilst it's sorted by Xac..

He tried to update to a newer/different versions of Bill's Finest and as so often happens with Windows it all went very Pete Tong.

I still hold out hope that one day he'll discover Linux...

I'll advise URLS of the test/backup forums later but they will be out of date by at least 24hurs and anything you post to them will not be saved...

More later...

I was aware. Don't know why. Just asking Xac now but there will be more outages as Xac advises on the FCF:
There are several outages planned for maintenance this month.

04-06-13 New server
After over 6 years of service (roughly 4 of them hosting the forum), running pretty much 24/7, I am retiring the internals of the current server and replacing them with a spanking new motherboard, memory and CPU.
I'm also going to be upgrading the OS.
So at some point tonight (unless I get back from London way too late) the server will go down.
At some point in the future when finances allow, I'll also upgrade the hard drives.

11-06-13 New internet connection
O2 are selling/sold their Broadband to Sky.
Sky provide fibre to my area.
On the 11th June I will be transferring over (hopefully with more success and less pain than when I tried with BT who totally screwed up) to them which should provide more bandwidth and better stability.
It should also allow O2/Be customers to access the forum.
With a bit of luck the transition will have minimal outage.

No, sadly not Mark and by the time Xac might start I'm long gone to bed anyway..

I'm not sure if it happened last night as Xac has made no comment... I'll ask!

I'd have thought Xac would have put a comment on the BXC...

Cheers Jim. They (BXClub and FCF) were both 'down' last night, so I presume Xac has carried out the upgrades.

I think he tried Mark but it all went a bit Pete Tong due to difficulties with a graphics card I understand... Not sure when the next attempt will be...
