Hi all

Picked up my set of leather door cards on saturday, thank you again will!
Had a good look at them this morning and got them cleaned up, ive decided that the best way to go is to transfer the leather inserts onto my cards for the n/s front one (which ive done and fitted) and the o/s rear one. I will swap the door handle on the drivers card when i fit that, of course the new cards had the front storage compartments and puddle lights which had to be swapped to my cards which required some cutting, screwing, glueing and drilling but the end result is perfection.
I am also hoping to have one touch drivers window now as teh door card has the box of tricks and switch, ive got loads of those switches spare but never had the box of magic before.

The front passenger door was all lined with insulation inside, box oiled, window mechs greased to death and the door covered with 3mm closed cell foam so that card could go on, all the other doors need box oiling and one needs the last of the open cell foam removing and replacing with closed cell stuff to complete.

New tyres are ready for the rims, this time im going with 4 Nexens n4000 as all 4 of the mich's on my mazda failed in a spectacula way at 50% wear and i never found them that good tbh, just not worth the money for top brands now. This means on my week of in a fortnight i can get the rear end together and put back on the ground 8-)
starting to get there now

Hello Mr Smart, long time no speak!

I think thats a bit too close tbh, the engine undertray needs turning from a 1200mm square sheet of stainless into the real deal with service access and insulation, the front arb bushes need doing, the front subframe needs to go back on along with the panels at the front and all the trunking/heatshields underneath the car and new exhaust system, then there is the heat sheilds behind the discs and hubs need blasting and painting, same for front callipers + rebuild kit (backs are done), a/c needs flushing re gassing with new seals on all pipes and poss re build the pump itself but i may leave that if it tests ok. then there is all the stuff ive forgoten like painting the tear drop trims at the rear of the roof etc etc i will have it ready for mot this summer/autumn though, i want it running this winter so i can fettle the niggles that will arise from such a large scale strip down so its all A1 next spring, i think thats realistic.

I'm pleased to hear the door-cards worked out OK.

I would have thought a plastic undertray would be generally better than a heavy metal one.

Hi Will

The stainless sheet is .9mm so fairly light, much easier to rib the sheet and make it strong than plastic, easier for me to work, much stronger after you have cut holes in it too, the big weight gain has been in insulation and upped spec.

wanted a perspex undertray but it was A) expensive B) delicate C) not very heat resistant D) damn heavy in the thickness needed so not a good choice.

Why not just use an original plastic one, they are very tough.
