It certianly is....Particulary by the amount you see on the roads. I think at one point they couldn't keep up with demand.

I'll be very interested in how they replace it eventually.

What have I gone and done now?!!!

Well this afternoon I decided to clean the LHM filters. Got them out okay and cleaned them up. Not that dirty, but I suppose worth doing. Nice and easy job.
Cleaned up ect and then started the car to move it back round the front. Only it won't rise.

The system is not pressurising at all. HELP!!! No brakes, suspension or steering. I left it idling for ages, but nothing.
I should say I haven't touched the pressure screw o n the accumulator.

I had a root around at the hoses and the only thing I can find is the tube that is connected to the little plug/lid with LHM on it, is not connected to anything under the LHM tank. I always assumed it was a non pressure return feed...am I right, is it meant to be connected to something, as I can't find it!

I have a strong feeling I am about to learn how to remove the LHM tank. ;)

You probably have an airlock in the pump feed hose.
Take the hose (that goes to the pump inlet) off the tank and fill it with LHM, then put it back on the tank and start the engine.

Oh, that might be the cause. Right. I will try that tomorrow. Thanks very much.

But what about the tube from the LHM lid plug. Is that just an overflow pipe?

Yes russ, you mean the small tube on the "Lid" .. a Breather!

As above, fill the pipe to the pump and OPEN THE REGULATOR screw (12mm spanner) one turn, then connect the hose back on the tank, then start the car...

This will then bleed out the system... You will know if the pump is pulling fluid through with the regulator screw undone as you will see lots of air bubbles get depositied in the LHM tank. Take the lid off and have a look...

Once they settle after a few mins of idleing, close the regulator screw back up.. DO NOT remove the 12mm nut, theres a spring and ball bearing in there!

Cheers Paul. So that is what it is. I was perplexed then for a moment...I could see it just connected to nothing. Excellent, so no un lipped hoses ect. Phew!

I'll do that then too...hope I can get to it. It is sitting on low with little space!! Y es I know about the screw. Little ball bearing escapes or something.. Thanks for the advice. Once I have gotten to grips with this, I'll hopefully retain this experiance and what to do for the future!!
Bit of a rookie mistake, but then I have never done this before!

Easilly done.. I robbed a load of LHM out of the ole SED, then a day later when I started it, it wasn't having any of it... but just as I stopped the engine, the pump grabbed one last gulp of LHM from the tank as the engine speed dropped to stop and she was ok....

Success! :D YES I have done it.

Not easy getting to the bleed screw when the car is on low and sitting on uneven ground. But I did manage to slacken it off with the aid of a mirror and little torch! . Primed the pump pipe twice with LHM. It actually did not need much, so there must have been air in it. let the car idle with the screw open for a bit, I think I heard a sort of air escaping noise. I was expecting bubbles maybe a bit of foam on the LHM returning to the tank, but no, it just seemed to agitate a bit. Switched off. Closed it up and restarted, with not much hope to be honest. Put the car on high and nothing. I thought great. Stranded car! However, it suddenly rocked a tiny bit and rose up. Did full Citrobatics and is now fine again.

So more skills learnt! :P Thanks for Paul's and Xantia_V6 advice.

You can get to the bleed screw from above with a bit of deft arm reaching.

Don't bother switching the engine off when tightening, just tighten it up.
