Hi All

Still comin along nicely, i hooked my little gel 12v Kayak battery up to the xm today and a few bits whirred into life, needed to give the windows a move to distrubute the grease, they glide well now, the one touch drivers window switch was goosed so i dug out a spare and swapped that over so its all working well now. The outside temp sensor is working now too since i sorted the connection out and the rear puddle lights are working.
Ive got trouble with the front puddle lights not working though, now the front end is off the car still and i wonderif that may be affecting them, there is just no power there so i will have to look into that, the rear ones just plugged in ad work a treat so the front ones must have a fault or something unplugged in the engine bay is upsetting them, can anyone confirm?

Here are a few pictures of the doors in progress, ready for doorcard

Front door card on, just needing a clean

Tomorrow the wife and Ellie are off to play group for the afternoon so i can get on with the last of the stone chip and box oiling, de grease the underside and get that all sprayed which will mean the wings can go back on 8-)
Then the teadious job of putting the fire resistant insulation in the transmission tunnel and onto the exhaust heat shields too, its moving along nicely now 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-) :D

I'm quite excited to see your car finished Dean. I know for sure I will be exceedingly jealous when I do!

Must feel great getting it all back together. Hope it continues to go smoothly. The front leather door card looks fantastic.

Hi Dean

Rear door feed plugs are on the central consol wiring loom.
Front door feeds are in the main dash loom.
Might be the bonnet catch switches unplugged that are upsetting things.
Leave the fault finding until the front is back.

Thanks John, i will start getting the front end on soon and get the headlights wired in before further diagnostics, mine does not have bonnet catch switches fitted, the plugs are there but no switches fitted to the catches themselves being a glorified poverty spec.

Your all very kind, but there are plenty of XM's out there in very good condition with more surfacing all the time.

Jim, at the moment it doesnt look anything like mint, it looks like a half built chassis with a pile of bits

Hi all

Yesterday saw some more progress, the rear door cards are all made up and ready to go in, just waiting on some new clips to come in at citroen as the old ones have been a bit over used.

I got the new stereo in which although you would think is not really important at this stage does mean another part of the interior work is ticked off, its a video display unit with i-pod and steering control compatability although i dont have the patch leed for the controls as yet, its a nice unit with the ability to change the backlight to any shade of any colour which means it can be set up to match the backlight colour of all the buttons in the car which i like, very good sound quality too over the other sony head unit that was there before.

Next the gas strut for the glovebox was replaced with a modified MK2 one, very easy mod that only affects the strut itself, im a bit peeved as i found and bought a nos MK1 strut from a well known citroen supplier only for it to go "missing" in the post :x but nevermind. Thats another job done anyway.

The reason for upgrading the door insulation in the first place

It was rather noticable after the foam was broken as it sounded like the door was slightly open so hopefully it will now be better than new.

All of the box oiling is now complete, the Cills are done and the underside of the car and all wheel arches have been scrubbed, de greased and are now ready to be stone chipped and or have waxoyl applied.

Got the rear panel treated and re sprayed yesterday with the bumper inserts back on and light lenses in...........only to remember the light lenses have to be out to get the bumper back on , well it is about 18months since it came apart.

Temp life support setup, wouldnt like to try starting it but it gets the windows moving, lets me see what isnt working as it goes together so i can sort it and gives me some music to listen to while im working

Nice stereo Dean. It looks very neat. Not glitzy like a Halfords special. Good choice!

A question for you actually...do you get any stereo related messages on the LHD display. I'm sure mine used to say something like Radio 2 ect.
