Thankyou for staying focused on topic will..
Yea no doubt the parking brake had a recording issue that side on the mot.. ill swap the caliper it has the later one with the curved parking lever on it instead of the straight one. It has the larger discs too.. i think ive got a spare..

Ah...I didn't realise you changed the rear panel section above the red lights for the mandarin one.
All clear now!! Nice job. Did you lacquer it too?
I find that is the most stressy bit. But now I have found you can lightly sand it down and use rubbing compound, it shouldn't be such a pain.
I'm about to tackle an annoying dent in my boot lip. I pulled it out today. So it's filler and primer tomorrow and should get paint on it too.

We just applied the paint straight over and on the old panel..
I was stunned to fine the boot lids are actually metal! I thought what a suprise considering the xm was concevied whenthe bx had plastic hatchs and also the xantia hatch is also not metal..

Well with it being a darker colour it will cover nicely. I believe your meant to use red primer for blacks and greys...could be wrong there. So the mandarin would be perfect!
I didn't realise that about the Xantia. I did about the BX. I always thought it was metal the XM hatch for some reason. But didn't realise the panel between the lights was plastic. Makes sense though I suppose. Difficult to form that lot out of metal pressings.
Down side of plastic boot lids though, is apparently you can't strap bike racks to them.

It's looking great Paul!
Call me fickle, but I've changed my mind and decided that I would again like to buy this when it's done if you still want to sell. Any interest in taking my Merc as a part ex

But the good thing, its all in situ job, like the Xantia, move the box across and rest it on the subframe. However, Im compenplating getting the whole lot out, and dooing the head gasket as a matter of course. Shes done then... So when someone does decide they would like to buy Ill knows shes perfect to go..
Cool picture of mine Paul in its "rejuvenation phase"....so happy I bought it from you

I do read jealously everyone's posts talking about mechanical repairs they have done....mine is going to be fixed back up by one of my customers at his garage....turns out he used to work at Citroen years ago and cut his teeth on dyane's and gs's etc.....he was well impressed to learn that I had an old xm and has offered to help me get it MOT ready for next year...when hopefully it will return to the road

Unless something has REALLY gone bad over the last 12 months Will, it shouldnt need anything! It had everything when I had it, drop links, brakes joints, clutch, engine was rebuilt... so Im a bit suprised to hear theres mechanical work!
