Well bought Charles, I'll be looking forward to seeing it!

I quite agree :D Drive mine yesterday after a week in a Xantia V6 and Xantia Activa and it was blissful...

The XM is now very firmly the weekend car..

Excellent, Charles. A very brief ownership of a 2.1, but you are trading up to the best! I can totally understand why. The V6 is a very nice engine indeed, and the autobox is simply better at delivery the gear you want when you need it. I have driven Jims V6 and it was lovely.

I have had one or two overtaking manoeuvres like your experience and it does frustrate at times. I usually have been quite heavily loaded up too which blunts the performance a tad. So I can see why you wanted more power.

As Jim has already said, look forward to seeing it. You now have the best Citroen combination, SM and XM V6's. :D
Not jealous at all!!

Happy days! I'll pretend not to be jealous and just hope the V6 is blue with cream leather :) Gonna take out my black beauty now and will forget about V6's:)

Crikey - Allards get everywhere!

I need to win the lottery if I am ever to afford a J2X. I feel I'd need similar luck to stay alive driving it!

Ha ha. Go onto the microcar forums and they're populated by Citroen bxs.

Is the m a runner? The palm beach is in boxes and won't be touched till my mum decides she isn't going to touch it again. It shares its garage with a mochet and a Berkeley racer.

Full runner. Needs a new propshaft bearing and is getting a higher axle ratio, but runs beautifully (it should - it's had a new engine, gearbox, brake master cylinder, tyres, radiator etc.

If you need any help on the Palm Beach, the Allard Owners club are immensely helpful.

My dad was in the aoc as he had the car from 1971. When it comes my way I will probably join. My mum occasionally gets a letter from someone with an old membership list asking if the car is for sale. It has the zephyr 6 with aquaplane head and shorrocks supercharger.

Just picked up the SM from having a new solid state distributor, HT leads and coil fitted. Well, night and day, the engine has lost lumpiness, zings and sings at revs and no sign of any stalling when hot. It now sounds exactly as a Maserati V6 should The guys at Classic Car Project Shop have also sorted the driver's electric window, the aerial, taken off the immobiliser and stopped the hifi drain. So hopefully far less need to jump the car after a week or so.

The last remaining step is to get the car over to Holland for the installation of sensors, ecu and modern fuel injection, then the beast really will be sorted.
