Wanted: Keypad catch for S2

Selling off one (or bits :o) of your XM collection, or perhaps searching for those elusive headlight washer covers? This is the place to do it.

Wanted: Keypad catch for S2

Post by endorfin » Sat Aug 17, 2013 9:56 pm

The catch on the security keypad on my S2 seems to have failed. So the flap stays open.

Anyone know how to repair it, I can't see anything immediately wrong but it won't stay closed. If I don't fix it then the flap is going to snap off sooner or later.

Or if anyone has a working spare?

Its actually a full cradle that the keypad sits in and is clipped to the bottom of the centre trim section.

I have a fully working one with perfectly working lid.. but its my only one and theres two of you wanting one now so sorry.. im keeping it.. ;)

The catch in the base is a standard part and pushes out from below.
It is found on many scrap TV's, computers and similar electrical equipment with plastic flaps.
The complete lid used to be available from Citroen for about £15.

I'd deactivate the security and tape the lid shut. Who'd want to steal an XM anyway?

The catch insert operates on the same principle as a cheap retractable ball point pen. I bought one as a spare from a Citroen dealer a few years back - don't know if they are still available.

Update: Still listed on Citroen Service as p/n 7588F0 inaccurately described as "Glove-box lid lock" for £4.21 each. Do a C-S search for REAR FLOOR CONSOLE - ASHTRAY if you wish to check. Hinged lid cover is listed as NFP.

Of course everything on your XM should be in working order, whether you need it or not. But that aside, do a search with the part number on Google and you will find a number of hits. How about here: http://www.carparts-pros.com/page_1_3.php#oeformo

Except when you add the quoted shipping cost of 17.9 euros from Germany to the UK!!

This old post has the diagram and part numbers: http://club-xm.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=4429&st=0

Yes, some sellers can't be bothered to send their products by regular air mail which costs only a fraction of DHL :x

I know this is an old thread but my key [pad catch has just failed. I pulled out s spare and that had failed in exactly the same way. I bit of Ebay searching and I found this listing:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/WHOLESALE-TRA ... z6hImZu7yQ" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
It appears to be the same and I have just bought 5 for under £5. If its is the same when they get here. I'll post again to confirm the match.

Fingers crossed.
