Flat spheres or fully pressurised, it's the vehicle they're attached to that matters....

Quite so. And I own a Toyota ...
By coincidence, a friend lent me this a few weeks ago. An amazing read...

Re: XM on TV
I covet the LJK Setright A Private Car - it is an astonishing book. I was tickled by the review in your link though - "the much less interesting six cylinder engine" - a hemi six that powered the BMW 328, that produced more horsepower than V8s twice the size and powered numerous Coopers, ACs and even a Le Mans winning Bristol - hmmm, much less interesting than a ubiquitous yank V8?!
( I own a car with a yank V8 - driving it compared to driving a Bristol 405 is like going back 20 years not five.)

Re: XM on TV
Old LKJ Setright was a big fan of the XM. One motoring journalist who did get and understand the car.

Re: XM on TV
Setright- Citroen were lucky to have him around as a prominent member of the motor press!
Here's a quote (which on reflection might be a sagacious addition to the Telegraph article
)
"If what you want is to drive a car whose steering feels and works differently and on the whole much better than others, whose brakes and ride and ergonomics do likewise, and whose entire concept is guided more by the eternities of logic than by the epherma of fashion, then you are a clever person and probably have an XM already. How sadly you must judge those who do not!"

Re: XM on TV
I loved that era of Car, Setright was unashamedly partisan about Citroen, Honda and Bristol. I wonder what he'd make of modern uniformity and lousy ride.

He would be rightly horrified and appalled...Charles M wrote: Setright was unashamedly partisan about Citroen, Honda and Bristol. I wonder what he'd make of modern uniformity and lousy ride.
