Go slowly and it should not be a problem but check ATF level first.

Note that it will appear very high without the engine running...

I won't be able to change a metal pipe where it is now, I meant the rubber hoses which is what I'm assuming is perished. Going back Thursday to fix the leak, replace fuel with fresh and attempt to start it.
no no i know what you are intending my check on the metal pipes was just the tell you the inner diameter of the rubber pipes

Legally, you can't tow with an A frame unless you have a method of braking the towed vehicle. A Frames are for recovery only.

Ive towed from Newcastle Upon Tyne, to Anglesey, Xantia with a Xantia, on an A Frame, and passed cops too with no issues. IF you are obiding well, and being safe and have a proper tail board and number plate, they seem to have better things to do..

Right, I'm going round tomorrow to try to start it. Will make sure I take plenty of photos with the dust on and after!

Can anyone tell me where the fuel supply and return pipes are exactly in the engine bay? I couldn't see a carburetor so is this an injection engine?

Fuel lines go up the drivers side of the bulkhead, in the same place as all other XMs regardless of fuel and engine.

For info, last year I changed a couple of rubber fuel pipes on my Prestige which had also perished through age.

I believe it's the same engine (2.0 Injection Non Turbo Petrol).

Location-wise, that's the drivers side sphere in the bottom left corner of the picture.

Are they the fabric covered pipes going into that thing that looks like an EGR?

What do the fuel pipes go in and out of. Sorry to be thick but I'm just used to diesels and injection pumps, no idea about petrols.

Correct. From memory (although it was a last year!) originally they were just rubber pipes, but the pipe I had to hand was rubber covered in fabric...

I'm sure someone else will confirm but I think in the middle is the fuel pressure regulator...

Going out of that (to the right of the picture) appears to go to the injector rail (I can see one injector in the picture)...

On the left looks like the pipe goes to the main fuel feed line, as Robert mentioned above...

I'm sure others will be able to go into more detail as I've had very little involvement with this engine at this moment in time...
