Newbie XM owner in NZ~1999 S2 2.1 Turbo Diesel~Ronin Rules!

Greetings fellow XM pilotes,
Re:- Newbie XM owner in New Zealand~
1999 S2 2.1 Turbo Diesel automatic~
John Frankenheimer's Ronin 1998 classic movie car chase re-enactments may now begin !!??**

What I don't know about XM's would fill many books but I am keen to learn.

We bought it off an Air New Zealand Flight Captain.(currently on Airbus 320's)
Best car I have ever owned. So much more room inside compared to our S2 Xantia 2.0 Turbo HDi.
The door opens with a solidly reassuring clunk. Just like a Rover P6 2000 TC. (the P6 being 50 years
young this year; Rover's homage to the Citroen DS 8 years earlier in 1955 but I digress)

The ANZ pilot has had the ZF 4-stage automatic transmission rebuilt at ruinous cost God Bless him.
The air conditioning works and the silver paintwork and cloth seats are pristine.
The alarm doesn't work too good, the cruise control isn't very accurate, the immobiliser keypad has been disconnected,
the radio cassette player works fine but no CD-stacker, the ignition switch is n/w
(bypassed by a concealed pushbutton~doubles as a kill switch)
and the diesel injection pump will need a rebuild fairly soon.(fault is that motor won't be able to be turned off
at all eventually) All projects for the summer to look forward to.
Anyways I am enjoying our XM hugely. I have ordered a Haynes XM Hints Manual.
I am wondering if one of the Cd-ROM's of the Factory Workshop manuals & wiring diagrams would be a
good next step. Comments?

We are lucky to live two railway stations away from AutoFrance Ltd. The proprietor is a 2nd generation
Citroen mechanic. His daily driver is a XM 2.5 Turbo diesel.

Go Team Emirates New Zealand for the Americas Cup 2013.

Hi Nick

Welcome to the forum. I have been running 2.1 XM estates for over 15 years and they are a super car. I was a TV engineer until I retired and the space in the estate enabled me to carry more TVs than in a van, that combined with the comfort and nearly 50 mpg most of the time (manual) made it the ideal vehicle for me. I still have one left that my son drives but I am now running a C5 2.0. Hdi which is very good on fuel and also cheap to tax but its not as nice to drive as the XM. Before the XMs I ran CXs and they for there time were better than the XM, they seem to be gradually going down hill.
