What to buy? 12v or 24v?

Post by alperakbilgi » Wed Sep 25, 2013 10:13 am

After my friend destroyed my TCT and he decided to buy the car, I am looking for a v6. There is two availabe v6s on the market. Both are s1 and one of them is 24v the other one is 12v.

Which one should I buy?

Also There is a s2 v6 12v but the engine was overheated and needs to be repaired. Is it worth to repair it? It is an Exclusive.

I don't know but am sorry your friend destroyed your TCT! But I know some people are very knowledgabe on the V6 front.
What a friend to destroy your car ...is it to do with the steering column or hydraulics or what...

Hydraulics is not working properly, also gearbox is making strange noises. when he had towed the car, car was on the lowest position and constantly hit the cars lower parts to the ground. exhaust is damaged and making strange noises. Also he hit the car to another cars several times.

Nice Friend.

For higher mileage daily driving the V6-12v might be more reliable, for less mileage a V6-24v is an interesting choice.

I love Turkish people but possibly not that friend. I cannot believe steering would have been compromised while towing your car. Your autobox could have overheated but not your steering column. Very sorry though...

I was using my XM for long journeys only. I make less than 10000 kms in a year.

Why 24v is less relaible compared to 12v ?

That's a bit mean of your friend to do that. Sorry to hear it is dead...well maybe it can be fixed, but at least he bought it.

V6's...prepare for a heated debate!

For noise, rarity and grunt the 24V, but either would be nice.

Being fortunate to own both models myself if you have a choice I would go for a 24v, although it might depend on usage as others have stated. The 12v has the option an autobox of course. I very much like both models and especially the early 12v as the 'original' XM! Please do let us know how you get on. With regards, Matthew T.

I was very angry at first but I realised he was very upset about his mistake and took the full responsibility. I decided to not to break hearts. What happened is happened.

24v is a little cheaper but is has an overheating problem. Owner says that the car could ride only for 15 minutes before it overheats.
