Having finally sorted the suspension spheres on my cobalt car I can honestly say I love driving it. My BIL took it out as well and was very impressed. He has always had petrol engined cars and commented how quiet it is.

I have spent 3 days in a little Golf Gti Mk1 with big wheels and hard seats. I then got back into the XM for a two hundred mile drive and oooh it was like being rubbed in baby oil before swathed in goose down wrapped in silk. There is no car more addictive to drive, apart from its petrol habit.

The notion that I might soon get my sweaty paws on this is more exciting than I can say (think very loud V8 throttle blips).

Paul - i'm struggling to release the piece of plastic dash that contains the two centre vents and the lcd displays. Above, you say ...
"Now, remove the heater panel front and dials. pop the roatrys out, remove two screws. take front out
remove the front section of dash front panel with all the switchs, screws along bottom edge, 4 around the heater panel, two top infront of the wanring bulb display, towards the speedo."

It seems to be hung up around the two centre vents ... any advice on how to release it? What do you mean by 'remove two screws' after popping out the three rotary dials.

Yea, I thought I had added after, theres 4 clips top and bottom,

Remove the Air Vents from there "Home" and you will see..

Use a screw driver to unlip the ramp clips..

You can poke a flat blade trough the air vents to release the clips.

Probably Will, but found it easyer to remove the two vents.

Original part changed and Vent removal now added..

I can see a plastic tab/clip top & bottom of each vent housing - are these the '4' that need releasing? Is 'removing the vent' an alternative? By vent, do you mean the thing that swivels up/down/left & right? ... I really want to avoid something going 'ping' as I wrestle with this!

Got it all in one steve... lever the vents out at one end very carefully. I use a small flat blade screw driver..
