Just spent the last 20 mins or so catching up on your thread Paul....fascinating stuff and you have an uncanny ability for working on xm's pal which I could only dream about matching :)

Charles?, being someone who bought one of Paul's last project fixer uppers, I can vouch that if Paul says its right you can take that to the bank! ;)
One thing Ive always liked about Paul is he says it as it is....no messing about. If he is happy with something, he says so, if he's not, he says so too with equal vigour

Ive covered I think best part of 10k miles in the xm I bought off Paul...its only let me down once recently when the gearlinkage rod snapped, but that was just one of those things that happen to old cars. Other than that and to also cover something someone else (Will)? mentioned in passing.....a year later and for the MOT mine will just need an inner cv boot doing which has either split or come unclipped, and a new backbox fitted. Then it will rise again for another 12months motoring

Im kind of jealous.....A new "old" xm...I was like a kid at Christmas when I picked mine up...counting down the days

We have a collection date fixed, 11 days and counting!

I have total confidence in Paul. If only dealers who sell their premium priced offerings of all makes would expose their preparation to the public in such a complete way!

I hope to visit at least one castle on the way home from far far far far etc away North Wales, but this clock back nonsense really doesn't help.

But Paul is a grease monkey who is proud of telling you what he's done, and showing you the results. The dealers are just after your money.

(Shiny showrooms cost a lot of money to run)

Well we had the dreadded MOT today for this little lady!

She drove brilliantly up to the MOT garage, at 18 miles away! Temp stopped at two Lines under the 90 deg which Im PERFECTLY happy with. Nice warm heater too! LOVED every moment of the drive too, and in comparison to the Xantia... well, Id say pretty much close performance wise. The XUD TD is more of a shove and go in a smaller window, where the HDi has a wider smoother power delivery. I like the Shove and Go feeling of the XUD though..

So, an hour later, and we have a CLEAN MOT with NO advisories!!! :) :) :)

So, now between now and collection date I shall do some fettleing, best I can.

Im openingly happy, or unhappy to say I wish I wasn't selling, but needs must, and deal done! I sincerley HOPE that Charles will be happy with her. Ill need to try and find a glove box catch, but I doubt I will before the car goes.

Had a small moment when I got back I noticed the RHD (Clock) would be on in dim mode when the key was off, but with the ignition on the clock was dimming off and going off.

Remembering a recent post somewhere else I remembered that was a loss of Earth to the clock, and sure enough, it was. So a re directed earth to the clock saw the service resumed.

Also the outside temp doesnt work. Ill TRY and see to that before she goes.

For me? Well, almost over, its been enjoyable, but learent a few new things, IE: Rear quarter glass repairs etc. Ill miss this car very much, but also look forward to seeing the car at rallies, like KVG that Vince has got.

I guess the answer is ..........................

And so onto the next... ;) FOR ME THIS TIME...
