Grey or white with no sunroof would be my choice.

I love that gray, it's superb.
Could someone photoshop the executive in the Copthorne photo into a better suit please, preferably charcoal grey.

I particularly like the olympic blue one. This Dutch car had has got quite a strange history. It was cherished and made beatiful as in the pic and then was sold to a person who managed to totally make a mess of the car in a short period of time. Wreck it really. It was then bought back by the proud former owner (I think, or a friend) but in a very very sorry state. I was too far gone to rescue but I don't know what happened, I think some one had the courage to rescue it nonetheless.
Obviously it wouldn't be as nice without the sunroof

(you were asking for that Dieselman!:) )

Really Jaap. That is terrible... What a shame.
Was it cosmetically ruined or mechanically too. I hope it has been saved. Not too many Olympic blue XM's about.

Both I think. It was in the process of being scrapped until somebody apparently was brave enough to stop that with the idea of restoring her. It was still driving - just. I lost track of the story there but it was a really nice car with a lot of effort put into it.

The Olympic blue colour is superb. It makes you realise how limited the colour palette is now on large cars. Such a colour was found on the Ford Focus Mk 2 Series 1 and it looked really good. But you´d never get it now on anything bigger. It would appear given the rarity of such colours that even twenty years ago they were not popular. I find this widespread and very enduring change in taste remarkable.
My other thought is this: aren´t we lucky to own such very lovely cars? The XM really is a very richly satisfying design. I really wanted the car to be a part of my children´s first memories which is why I have fought tooth and nail to hang on to. What a super thing to remember later on in life.
