Now that's taking the practice of carrying running spares a bit far!

I've also kept my boot clear. I ask myself: would Bryan Ferry have junk in his boot? No. There's nearly nothing in the car but I have kept jump leads and a can of LHM.
Despite good arguments for a full-size tyre I think it's still reasonable to omit them but it ought to be spelled out to customers. And a full-size ought to be a no-cost option. That way those who want them are not penalised. The uptake would be small.

I've got a microwave and a spare 2cv rear window in my boot. You never know when that could come in useful :D .
Always try to keep the rest of the car tidy but the boot's always full of clutter.

I drove around with a box of cleaning things for years plus a few bottles of oil and coolant. But about three years ago I took all of it out except for the single bottle of LHM. The floor is vacuumed often so the boot is ready to impress the living daylights out of any people whose lucky luggage gets to ride in the 460 litres of XM luxury in the back of the car. Part of this is down to the fact it´s an old car. If you´re young you can be scruffy. The older you get the better you need to take care of grooming and clothing. For cars it´s the same. Old but clean and tidy is the way to signal that a car is not just the banger you can afford but a much-loved chariot. Or, if you are very daring you have to go to the other extreme and run a car like my neighbour, a really tatty but complete 1987 Opel Omega. It´s rusted but still legal. About the only sign of care is that seems not to be all that muddy or dirty. Other than that it´s a €400 car just one MOT away from the crusher. And it´s looked like that for five years.

Did I say from now on I'll only be filling up the windscreen-washers tank with about as few liquid as practical -just top it up so that the warning message goes off. The XM can swallow 4 or 5 kilos of water if filled up!!
