Even with postage costs, must be cheaper to buy in the UK. http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_odkw= ... s&_sacat=0

Paul

Thanks for windscreen offer but the car is still insured so I should be able to get one for the cost of the excess which would probably cheaper than coming to Wales.

Goodness. Those prices are essentially "free" even with postage. The mechanic didn´t disagree with the large numbers I guessed at for front and rear replacements. As ever, I need to get the right part for the car. This is the advantage of the mechanic and Citroen: they have right part (where available) whereas I had to spend hours hunting in the case of the fuel pump. Did I mention the bill for the work was the same as the initial astronomical cost getting the assembly new from Citroen? Even though the actual parts I bought amounted to about £60 of stuff (Robert! What do I owe?).

I am looking into a garage which is not far from the Danish border, in Germany. I think I will have to review my custom at my usual garage as the prices are now humorously excessive. Does it really take so many hours to fit new pads and discs? I imagine in the UK such a job is about €400, right?

The alternative of buying the €700 car in southern Germany was not well received at home. Can you imagine!

To fit discs and pads all round shouldn't take more than three hours, even with unforeseen problems like seized bolts etc.

What were the measured thickness of the old discs? I've never had to change 4 discs in one go, the rear ones will long outlive the front ones. Certainly not more than 3 hours!

I bought two front discs for about £75 last year from AEP i think it was. Need to do the rears at some point...got a good lip on em. It pays to do your own research and shop around. And providing your Doseur pivot isn't stuck on, its very straight forward replacing discs and pads. I managed it!!
