Remember the golden rule Charles......start with the least aggressive combination and then step it up bit by bit until you find what works then you know what works.

Id start with a medium cut pad and a light cut polish...If that doesn't get the results you want then you can repeat the process with the same combo (make more passes) or step up a notch with the polish keeping the same pad. You shouldn't need a heavy cut pad...Keep in mind that freshly painted surfaces don't fully cure/harden for 2 to 4 weeks ;)

Its a process of doing test patches and discovery :)

Or in my case, Range Rover!

Thanks Vince. I am going to get some kit ordered and start learning. Be nice if I could do it outside without being blown away or drowned!

Kit turned up today, precisely two days after ordering. Most impressive.

The intention is to have a model XM rather than an XM model!

Great choice of machine and products Charles ;)

Remember that Menzerna polishes need to be worked for longer than say Meguiars products to make sure you don't end up with any holograms imparted into the finish...

Finish whatever work you've done with the final finish pad and SF4000 Menzerna polish....Absolute perfect results can be obtained with this as a final step :)

A little test to remove some overspray with the Menzerna fast gloss and the Sonus scratch cutting pad came up a treat. So a good, if small, start!

Using a 50:50 mix veg and diesel (which it doesn't like when cold) I did 640 miles on 13.4 gallons on my run up to Anglesey and back, so in cold, motorway conditions where I did put my foot down, and a lot of slow bits, an average of just under 48mpg, which I think is rather good. Using LPG economics, that works out at a healthy 58mpg equivalent.

Not a bad figure at all. NONE of the new cars I have tried come close to that.

The Xantia HDi will and does average 50 mpg... with 271k on the clock. This is an encouraging figure Charles, ok an auto will use a bit more, but my driving around here is more dual carrageway cruising rather then stop start town driving..
