Wvo users.. advice please
Ive found a small but free supply of wvo from a local cafe. Its only about 20 (or 25l) say a month.
however the cafe owner has asked me for a receipt for her records of disposal/removal from her business. Reading about I see you need to be registered for removal but the web sites are useually talking massive qtys. If I supply I reciept will I get into trouble for the small qtys im taking ..?
How do hou other people on wvo get round it... of course if FCF was working id ask xac.!!

According to my book there is a big difference in dealings with the Environmental Agency between those making Bio for their own consumption and those planning to sell it.
If you are making it at home for yourself you dont need a licence or annual permits.
In order to legally collect waste oil (by vehicle) you need a waste transfer licence costing around £160 for two years.
This allows you to collect waste and issue waste transfer tickets that caterers may demand.
Your cafe owner needs a receipt to prove safe disposal of waste oil.
Get her to change the oil a bit early and sell it to you as part used cooking oil.
Issue a a receipt that states used cooking oil for reuse.
Cook a lot of chips and empty the pan regularly into the car fuel tank.
Use a filter when you do this.
Compare this with buying 100ltrs of new oil from the cash and carry and taking it home.
No transfer licence needed.
Hope FCF comes back so you can get proper advice.

I would have thought you would still need a waste carriers license, irrespective of the reason for removal.

You DO NOT need a waste carriers licence if you are a private user, you are exempt from this. I belong to a biofuels forum and this has been discussed at length.
You do have to provide a WTN to the caterer which they keep for their records for 2 years, it's advisable you keep a copy too. This may be of interest to you:

I do not advise emptying the pan into the fuel tank, even through a filter. It needs to be settled and dewatered first (water kills the injection pumps) there are several ways of doing this, by heating it up and getting water to drop out but the easiest way is to add 5% petrol and within 24 hours any water, also any crud drops out to the bottom and the top oil is ready for filtering. I filter through 3 filter socks inside one another 100 micron, then 25 micron then 1 micron ending up with perfect oil that doesn't block filters.
What car are you intending to run this on, if it's an IDI engine like the XUD or the PSA 2.5 it will be fine with no mods as long as it has the Bosch fuel pump, ALL Xantia 1.9TD have the Bosch whereas the 1.9D can have the Lucas but you probably already know that. The 2.1 can have either and the 2.5 XM all have Bosch. WVO is not recommended for HDI engines although I know of members successfully doing 30k+ by blending 70% wvo with 15% diesel and 15% rug.

I think this is for Pauls 2.1td Auto IIRC.
Should run nice on this and be good to clear out the crud that is within its system after being sat so long so keep one or two fuel filters in the car and tools to swap it at the roadside if it gets clogged

What he said. Carrying a spare filter is a must when running on veg.
As long as the 2.1 has a Bosch, no problem but I thought the 2.1 had a Lucas EPIC pump?

It depends on the age I believe though with citroen it also possibly depended on who had them cheapest that day!

Surely you remember me! I know what pumps should be used on what!! OF COURSE its Bosch, and as KingP says, its my 2.1 TD auto with Bosch.
As for Pump fitment, theres a GENERAL time line, but nor PRECIESLY! Early 2.1 TDs H to around K reg 1993 had Lucas Mechanical Pumps fitted, UNLESS auto where Bosch was fitted.endorfin wrote:What he said. Carrying a spare filter is a must when running on veg.

Then there was a change in 1993 to Alloy Manifold, and EGR and Bosch Mechanical Pumps fitted to manual or autos, and this went through then Till the 2.1 was also fitted to the Xantia, in around 1997 where they went back to plastic manifolds and Lucas EPIC and manual or Auto..
This car is a 1994 L reg Auto which does have a Bosch Pump. Also a TD Xantia 1994 with Bosch too.
So ok, thats great! I can do this recipt and feel ok then.. Im eventually going to change the thermostat housing on the 2.1 for an EPIC unit with the fuel filter ontop of it Like the Xantia, therefore a fuel filter swap will be a SIMPLE EASY road side excercise, instead of a messy old Style Roto Diesel type filter swap..

If you fancier an easier one to change Paul think of using the one from a td6 l322 range rover, two jubiclips and a connector(if you really want to know if there is water in there) and jobs a good en! Slot in and out
hardly any fuel goes anywhere and oh so simple with the downside of not being heated but there is a better way to hear the fuel anyway
