I am sure that some of you must be following this quite entertaining C4 series and just to confirm that the programme next Sunday at 8.00pm features the Delorean, which of course is also fitted with the PRV V6!! Regards, Matthew T.

The 2.8 engine was to small and underpowered for this sport car.
He wanted a lotus engine for it.

I wonder what the 24v V6 would have been like in it. They do Turbo versions of the PRV for the Delorean now.

I had the same thought Russ and I wonder if such a car exists? There are few enough 24v XM and 605 around so maybe best not to plant the idea! I also thought the original Delorean was turbocharged? With regards, Matthew T.

Yeah...No, the original DeLoreans only had the 2.8 V6 engines with 130 BHP. Strangled by emissions controls for California Smog regulations. So they were never fast, they rode to high as well. The European cars which we never got, were meant to have more power and better suspension set up as Lotus intended, making it a better car overall.

What's interesting though, is Delorean has done an upgrade to the PRV V6 making it far more powerful with the Turbo option. It's amazing the company still essentially exists, with 90% of all spare parts of the shelf. So any difficult things to find PRV engine wise... Huston DMC could be the answer.
The funny thing I find with DeLoreans, is they sound so pathetic when they start up, but push them on and that V6 noise wails away which is quite intoxicating! Been watching too many youtube videos recently!!

I also saw a preview of the one being restored on For the love of cars, and it is an ultra rare RHD car. So looking forward to it.
