Personally I would prefer to see the CXM sited east of Birmingham, somewhere around the Tamworth area.

Little Horwood doesn't do it for me.

I was informed that the D section have considerably more funds available than the E Mids section. I don't fully understand the reasons either, just relaying what I've been told. Hopefully a suitable venue can be found.

Why should they have more available to them? I find that unfair if its true. Anyway not worrying about that.
I echo your thoughts Mark.

It's no so much that the CCC are diverting more funds to certain sections - which they aren't - it's more to do with the D sections having more funds of their own to relish on events such as the D rally.

I've tried to organise an alternate suitable venue, with limited success, either venues are already booked up this year or they want too much to host an event.

Hopefully somebody will have more success.

It's one of the issues with the CCC being splintered into so many sub sections and groups.

How much is the Little Horwood site for the weekend. If it's reasonable why not just make a charge to cover it?

I see, so they personally fund their own section. Fair enough, good for them, but they charge a substantial entrance fee for their rallies. It's also up to our section wether or not we want to use Little Horwood and do the same. Not Nigel saying we can't.

Well done Mark for trying with other sites though.

Just to clarify. Nigel hasn't informed me explicitly that we can't use Little Horwood, it's just that the cost of hosting it there is prohibitively expensive. It's the E Mids Section rally after all, so we'll just have to leave it in their hands to organise. Perhaps we can have the 25 th anniversary celebrations at this years National rally.

Oh right I see, Sorry Mark, crossed wires!

Well that would be the most obvious thing to do, is to celebrate at the National.

One question, could any section hold or take on CXM with a new location?

I cannot make national as im going home from my week in cornwall..

id really love to see a seperate cxm rally. And would happilly pay an entry..

look at other rallies they charge exceptional entries.. 20 quid to some vwgolf mk.1 shows want 15 a day.. I think the simca/talbot is 20 a day entry though that does also grant all beuleigh areas too..

I think 10 a car is a worthy charge!

russ92xmsed wrote:However I have heard some rumblings about the possibility of CXM being organised. I hope it does go ahead too.
I've not checked into Club-XM for a good while but thought I'd have a quick look this evening and stumbled across this thread...
mds141 wrote:With regards to the CXM. I've been advised by Nigel Wild and Alan Kemp that Little Horwood is no longer a viable venue due to costs. Apparently Franklin is looking into alternatives. That's about all I know at this stage unfortunately.
I must say I had to have a chuckle at this Mark, I'm not sure who told you this but it's certainly news to me...! :) I'm certainly not looking into alternative venues as there is no intention to organise a "CXM" Rally of any sorts...

The reasons why I've posted before, and has been put into the Citroenian now too...due to a total lack of volunteers it is just not possible. The CX, XM and Xantia Section of the CCC that used to run the CXM Rally is no more - now it is simply the CX Section, and with just myself and Dom on the Section it is not possible or fair for us to organise a rally on our own.

The call for volunteers was definitely aimed at the XM and Xantia owners - as previously mentionned we as the CX Section extended to the CX, XM and Xantia Section to not only get volunteers to help with the rallies, but also encourage attendance to the CXM too. To have "just" a CX Rally like that or yesteryear is no longer possible due to the lowly numbers - less than 20 CXs in a field for a weekend is not viable in many respects. If it was like the 130 (one hundred and thirty...) CXs that I saw at the CX Club de France's CX 40th Celebrations last weekend at Le Treport, France, then that would be a different matter - what a sight to behold!!! Hence to get a worthwhile rally the XMs and then Xantias were invited along and the CX, XM and Xantia Section was formed... With the majority of the attendees at the CXM being that of XMers and Xantia'ers Dom and I hoped that when volunteers were asked for that the XMers and Xantia'ers would come forwards...unfortunately not so...

The X Rally was very kindly taken over by Paul and Mark which must say thanks ever so much to, I couldn't attend as it clashed however I believe attendance was around 60+ so around half our usual attendance but taking into consideration shortness of time etc hats off - well done chaps. :)

Why not combine an XM 25th at the National, or Midlands Rally at Stratford? Just an idea...

But in regards to CXM, just to get things clear Dom and I are not organising a rally and there will not be a CXM Rally in any shape or form organised by us due to reasons outlined many times in the past on here and in the Citroenian.

If anyone has any questions in regards to the section or CXM then just ask.

I've kept the Sunday of the National Rally free, so I might see some of you there for a natter and catchup.
