Re: 25 years of the XM!!
There used to be regular car meets at RAF Cosford, the museum there is free to get in and they have a large area to park and display cars.
Cosford is on the M54 north of Wolverhampton.
Just a suggestion!

Re: 25 years of the XM!!
That sounds like a good idea and what about a more informal one day gathering of the XM crowd, advertised through the Forum, rather than a CCC event? Late September might be a good time perhaps and could Russ produce a poster? I really think that we must do something to mark the 25th birthday and especially with no CXM, while I would be happy to bring along a cake! Regards, Matthew T.

Re: 25 years of the XM!!
I think thats a great idea. And why not organise our own XM meet ups, if the CCC is going to be difficult.
Of course I will do a poster if this is a goer.
I am trying to look into how much a rally would cost if held at Prescott Hill Climb, down here in Gloucestershire. Im only inquiring, one, as it might be a great venue for the National CCC rally one day, loads to do round here and it is nestled in glorious cotswold scenery, very good motorway links to us too. And two, because the Peugeot 205 GTI club is holding a special event there next month. So if they can do it...... and yes for a small fee I understand you can drive up the hill climb.
There is good camping facilities, and a new fancy clubhouse too.

Re: 25 years of the XM!!
I'm sorry, Russ, but how are the CCC being difficult?russ92xmsed wrote:And why not organise our own XM meet ups, if the CCC is going to be difficult.
I'm really struggling to see how the CCC are being difficult at all...
As I've outlined in my last post, there was a call for volunteers and with the majority of the attendees at the CXM being that of XMers and Xantia'ers Dom and I hoped that when volunteers were asked for that the XMers and Xantia'ers would come forwards...unfortunately not so...
There was also mention previously on here and in the Citroenian calling XM (and also Xantia) owners and enthusiasts to come forwards to possibly create a section/group to organise that of some meets for the XMs (and Xantias)...
I'm still rather confused as to how the CCC is being difficult about this. Is this the club as a whole? A section? One individual? I'm really rather intrigued to know...
Personally from my point of view, if anything it's the XM (and Xantia) owners and enthusiasts being difficult by not volunteering, however still wishing there to be a show/rally/meetup...

The problem I have with the CCC is that it is more fragmented than any other club I have known. It seems proud to spread itself thinly amongst its constituent parts, but not to spread evenly. Maybe because the XM and Xantia are at the younger end of the Citroen dynasty their members choose to do as young 'uns do - and go their own way. Forums like this exacerbate that point and, I feel, may become more reliant on themselves than on the need of a club to provide the glue.

Re: 25 years of the XM!!
Perhaps an events secretary, who can liaise with all the relevant sections and sub- groups is in order? Something to raise at the AGM perhaps?

Re: 25 years of the XM!!
Here's another idea for a meeting, what about finding a very nice pub with a big car park fairly central in the UK that could serve as a venue? Presumably any decent pub is going to love having the business and it would provide us with refreshments and other facilities. Anyone got any suggestions say in the triangle between Birmingham, Northampton and Nottingham? I also think mid-late September would be the ideal time, right at the end of the rally season while weather is still fairly reliable. Regards, Matthew T.

Cosford is a great place to visit with plenty for all the family to look at. I fear a pub meet could get boring after a couple of hours.

I would be attending without the family for the cars and chat rather than other such attractions, but I am pleased to follow the idea of a more general day out if others agree. With regards, Matthew T.
