The aid con will need a replacement or modified compressor as it is the r12 type . Let me know if you like to see her. The road tax runs out end of july so it would be nice to sell her before then. Driving her on the road after that will not be an option

All Uk XM had a sunroof until 1998....Grrr....

I would much prefer the headroom and longer looking roofline of one without.

Not necessarily true, I have had a few 1970s and 80s Jags converted to R134, in all cases the original compressor was retained, but the drier replaced. On a couple I had new hoses made, as R12 hoses tend to leak R134. In the UK, you probably have to fit charging port adapters. The system needs to be topped up with an oil that is compatible both with R134 and with the old R12 oil still in the system.

Or even easyer just put in r24 is it? Or r202 .. I know theres a friendly compatible gas available which doesnt need any pats swapping at all.
