Off topic chat about anything you like. Doesn't have to be about XMs (though they will inevitibly come up!). You can even discuss non-Citroens :o in here!

What I read about it boils down to the fact that reflective solutions will never do it perfectly. For a really good HUD, you need to project a collimated picture to a combiner surface. It works just like a teleprompter, actually, people tend to use actual teleprompter screens for the projection.

But, unfortunately, this isn't something you can fit in a nice way. It will always look too DIY.

Chris, that's very interesting that you've done that, well done!

Must admit it only crossed my mind the other day when I realised that when pressing on cross country in the CX, I really don't want to take my eyes off the road to know the speed and a HUD might be a very good idea rather than a gimmick. Too much turbo rush and scenery distortion isn't conducive to looking at the speedo!

Why look at the speedo when rushing down country lanes. Either you are going too fast for comfort or you are not.

I must admit I don't look at the speedo much on twisty country lanes - I'm either following someone at their speed of driving as fast as I feel comfortable.

Straight stretches are a different matter, but then again on the straight bits you're either still following traffic of have time to see how fast you're going.
