K reg 2.1 SD XM for sale in Silex

Selling off one (or bits :o) of your XM collection, or perhaps searching for those elusive headlight washer covers? This is the place to do it.

Does it have tax and test on it Charles?

Apologies if if thats stated and ive missed it..

This car being in this predicament is weighing on my mind....i dont have the money to buy it but its too good for someone not to save it ;)

I know of two car traders who would probably stump up the cash but they aren't citroen guys at all so probably wont commit.

Im going to list it via my facebook page and throw it out there.

Paul what do you reckon on the window? can they be re-fed into the track again?

Most likely the wire has broken on the window winder.
Paul is likely to have a spare and it takes less than an hour to swap.
Just possible glass guide block has worn away but these are just plastic blocks that clip on the top edge of the window.
Paul again will have spares if needed.

There is a trap on the tax if the car is not purchased and reregistered to the new owner by the end of this month.
From the 1st Oct tax does not transfer when a car is sold to a new owner.
Residual tax (1 month in this case) will be refunded to the original owner.

The wire is fine, it is going up and down, but the block on the top edge of the window is out of the runners and so the window is going all over the shop. I can't put it back in and am not going to try again as I fear for the window glass. Had this happened even 3 days before when the car was still in Lancashire, Malcolm at Savoy would have been only 15 miles away.

The tax and MOT situation is not lost on me - hence the desire to get it off to a new owner before life gets more difficult. Having had to recover my SM from Holland with neither tax nor MOT I don't want to have another SORN car on my drive.

Hi Charles

Sorry about this problem turning out to be the final straw with your XM ownership.
My comments were intended to make sure anyone interested made contact quickly and moved the car on before the month end.

The guide block unclips and if removed a working window can be wound up into the closed position to make the car secure and weather proof.
Stick a loop of duct tape on the glass so you can use it to guide the glass into place as you gently raise the window.
The glass is very tough and difficult to break.
I have a spare with a good block if this is needed.

I second that, the window can be closed without the upper block. The block was still available new when I tried it the last time, maybe a year ago. It's rather easy to replace but only from below, you can't force it back into the runner together with the glass from above.

Update - Steve (sdelasal) has been to look at the car, in inspecting it we found a rust hole on the O/S on the outer sill by the front jacking point, with some other slightly crusty bits. So unless sorted (which I am not going to do) it is likely to be an MOT fail when it is done. I just wanted to let people know, I'm not changing the price because I think the car is worth it, but Steve preferred not to have to deal with bodywork issues.
