How about the windscreen washers? Rubber ones on very early cars, plastic ones on the majority, and there are some that are heated.

Door mirrors set farther back so you can actually see the ns of the car.

When did the "ski" slot come in? Mine has the the centre arm rest in the rear seat but there is no access to the boot.

Very Early S1 wing mirrors have small glass lenses, 1.5 were bigger. The S2 cars were much improved and were staggered on each side. The passenger is further forward than the drivers side.

SO Early cars came from France WITHOUT sunroofs, and dealers fitted the dreadfull things?? Is that what your saying mathew?

Then Citroen decided to fit them as standard for Fleet Drivers.... how crap!

Yes Paul they were retro fitted either over here or in France and then factory installed fairly soon afterwards. There seemed to be an expectation that we all wanted sunroofs in the UK and an XM would not sell without one! Regards, Matthew T.

I blame FORD. They always stuffed extras onto fleet cars, initially as special models, then mainstream.

Having said that, I wasn't complaining when I got loaded up cars to drive...

Wow some great information bits here...plenty to try to spot at the next rally

I knew there would be a mine field of information when collated together

On the ski hatch question Neil, mine is a 93 and although the arm rest folds down, there is fabric covering the hole..unless thats held in place with velcro or something? Ive never tried it to be honest...ill be having a look now though

Interesting on the staggered mirror positions though to get around the old A pillar obscurer issue

Vince, Base models dont get ski flap, just an arm rest, Mirrors werent staggered, early models had a Small Glass area mirror with a Plastic outer border - then around 1992/3 the boader was removed and a larger glass area was fitted. Mirror cases were ALWAYS the same size so are interchangable...

IF you plan a trim update, I may have a FULL SD Interior available, giving you the Arm Rest Door pockets, the Ski flap, and hinges and rear glass panel..

Only S2 mirrors were staggered. The passenger one is moved backwards ( as in closer to the driver) so it can be seen more. but it is a very slight difference. Blink and you miss it. But it makes all the difference.

I'm intrigued by the ski flap. Both mine to my knowledge didn't have one.....

I have never seen a ski-flap on a XM, although some velour seated models have split rear seats! Regards, Matthew T.
