Two litre 16v came in series two and its actually not 130bhp but 145bhp so i beleve, not sure what the 130bhp 2.0 engine is they mention.. anyway.. its apparently a very good pay off between performance and economy rather like the esj v6 24v engine .. its the one engine ive yet to sample in an xm ...

According to my papers the 16 valver has only 130 bhp. I like it but it would be better of course as a manual. You're welcome to try it:)

Hope it was a manual XM because I really cannot recommend the auto as a reliable, daily driver.

2015 - Still waiting for the hover conversion kit but do wear two neckties at same time.

We are lucky then. Using 2 XM's both auto's. One for almost 4 years, the other >2 years. But they were well maintained, which will make a difference. I do recommend changing the ATF every time you change the engine oil.

Yes I have my ATF changed every 5000 miles when the engine oil and filters are changed and don't forget the ATF filter behind the gearbox drain plug and check the magnet for metal particals mine is still going strong after 145000 miles + touch wood.

Guess I've been unlucky with mine despite changing ATF regularly. Trouble is there's no guarantee the previous owner or owners either changed the ATF regularly or even used the correct mineral based Dex II. Bit of a gamble buying XM automatics. I'll stick with a manual next time.
