I've been using my 1994 xm since 2011. No issues with auto box as of yet.
I guess your car was a good 'un from the start. My one was on the cusp of being a 'parts car' when I bought it off fleabay two years ago. Previous owner had towed a medium sized caravan with it but gave up as it was 'underpowered' and parked it up - not surprising considering the XM auto in basic spec still weighs over 1650 kilograms with only 109 bhp and a slushbox really doesn't make an ideal towing vehicle. I should have just walked away and waited for a good one.
Going to see if the Haynes museum wants it as they don't have an XM.
1995 XM 2.1 auto hatchback RP 6717. Sold on for spares or repair.
1992 Rover 216 GTi twincam 16v 130 bhp. Unbreakable mechanicals, bodywork - less so.

2015 - Still waiting for the hover conversion kit but do wear two neckties at same time.

Wow what a line-up, I found it quite close to home as I've always said if I couldn't have XMs I wouldn't mind a nice Lexus LS 400 or Jag XJ... or a Volvo S80, or a Ford Granada, or a a a a a..... 7 Series :o
