Dwarfed by an X7.....

Post by citroenxm » Sun Nov 16, 2014 6:12 pm

Well, I thought Id take the chance for comparison and share it!

Mums C5 X7 parked behind the XM. Just to show how much the C5 has grown, though the car did originally replace the Xantia and XM the car has now grown bigger then the XM, HOWEVER, internal space is to me an actual Disapointment!

Anyway, a couple of shots for comparison for your evaluation!

That is interesting Paul and it must be the increased crumple zones!! No disrespect to your Mum but I know which car I would rather drive home! With regards, Matthew T.

The XM does look rather small.

Having driven a few X7 C5's they are a very good car. In some ways they are a better every day car then the XM. I certainly wouldn't replace my XM with one though but I do see the appeal as an every day car.

Your mum's X7 is a nice colour, Paul!!

To be honest Paul I think most new cars are bigger and bulkier. Crumple zones, air bags, sensors galore, etc etc just needs more space.

Yes, its quite interesting really when you see Phase 2 Crash tests with the safety cell, it does make me at least wonder why they are more bulky? The First cars are far roomier then these, and Id prefer to have myself!

Mum likes hers anyway, thats all that counts.

On another Note, Even the Mini is urrrm.. NOT a mini anymore, and bigger then the XM!

Try comparing the original mini with the BMW thing. Only the name is similar.

Nice C5 Paul, always liked these versions of the C5. Based on the C6 hence why it is bigger. But yeah, usual result of safety, technology ect ect. Also people getting bigger is one reason why cars are growing. I agree with you though, the interior space does seem on small side for such a large car.

Anyway. I find, when the Xm is on it's belly, it tends to look smaller. When it's up and level, it seems to appear much bigger. But no denying it, the XM is a daintier design now compared to the modern stuff.

Know which one is faster though....

uhrmm...why doesn't anyone, mention the fact that the Roads and parking places, are NOT getting any bigger? Just compare an old fashioned van being bigger smaller than modern SUV's and explain me why. Every time I go to work I have to virtually stop to let others pass by.
