Re: Mark's XM.
Indeed. Yesterday was meant to be dry. It wasn't. I also need all the stuff for rebonding and my organisational skills are such that I keep forgetting to buy the bits. Town is 12 miles away. The frame is really rotten though. I dread to think what I'll find when I finally get it out.

Re: Mark's XM.
If the sunroof is actually a "standard" Herliez-Webasto item, fitted to many vehicles, it would be good to know whether the item has part numbers, available spares, etc., particularly for the frame. Does anyone have any info on it?

Re: Mark's XM.
I'm particularly concerned about the seal, especially getting a water-tight fit on the glass during reassembly. I think rust has effectively pushed it away from the glass at the moment, but the rubber no longer feels flexible enough.

Re: Mark's XM.
I did a re-rubbering of ours a few months back. Rust had pushed the rubber seal away from the glass, so aggravating the problem.
New seal easily sourced (still available from Citroen), and noticeably more flexible than the one removed.
Several small sections of the steel lip rusted away or delicate, so cleaned up and painted.
The new seal really does need adhesive to keep it in contact with the upper surface of the glass, and if I were doing the job again I would go for a professional grade of polyurethane black sealant (the sort used on windscreen surrounds). I now have some of this, and it's excellent, with far better adhesion and rigidity than silicone sealant.
The stuff I have is Henkel (Pattex) PU298 Solyplast, black - available in standard cartridges. Seal needs clamping in position for 24hr while everything sets. Clean all surfaces with alcohol first. Good stuff.

Re: Mark's XM.
I wonder if a C5 sunroof would fit an XM?

Re: Mark's XM.
Just been reading through old posts re scuttle panel removal. As I understand it, the siren for the alarm resides in this area?
The siren on my car doesn't work, so I'm wondering if a build up of crud/moisture has caused the siren to fail and is also responsible for the leaks?
As soon as we get some decent weather I'll be dismantling the scuttle area.
Any other jobs worth doing whilst in the vicinity?

Re: Mark's XM.
Or has someone disabled the siren using the over-ride function?
