Good point Dean.

In truth, I can't remember the FI system, but it did have a distributor, just for HT, not timing.

She is an early car. RPO is 4903 which is 12 April 1990!

I wanted a nice early one to get all those original faults and problems...........

You are right John, the last of the jetronic series must of been snuck in and fitted alongside magneti, maybe citroen acting out of character and testing the systems on the public prior to a switch to fully electronic Bosch for all petrol 4cyl models in the last two years of mk1 production and on until the Xm was axed in 2000, those first 3 years saw a lot of change then with at least 5 management systems on one engine!

There won't be any faults or problems by now Rob, the original earthing blocks seem to have been bypassed.

My early one wasn't too bad.
Sticky front height corrector linkage, would sometimes engage Sport mode for no reason, pinhole leak in main HP hydraulics pipe due to the clamp not rubber support being fitted correctly.

After 50k miles in a little over 2 years, it looked like new.

They still look active to me.

The ones on my 1990 car haven't given any trouble, but I have greased them to ensure they don't suffer corrosion.

shame she sat so long and got a J plate. She look far better and original with a proper G plate. She had to have sat as we all know you cant put a newer age plate on an older car..

I agree a G plate would be lovely!

Had a better chance to look over the car last night and found parts of the broken rear ashtray cover so that can now be repaired.

Most importantly she has ABS! I know this is a mixed blessing but I value the system (at least while it is working!). The vendor was adamant there was no ABS on the car but the light cam on during the ignition sequence. A proper peer into the engine bay revealed all plumbing present and correct :)

Looking forward to next week when I have two days leave to play with the car. There is however a good chance that the leave will be cancelled as it was my offices burning down that was all over the yesterday :(

Dizzy with the amp chip hiding away under the black plastic bag. (Top right)

Shame it's on a J instead of a G, but it is what it is.

Interestingly, where Robs Ignition moduleamp is bolted and on Neils theres a black bracket left of the dizzy that is where the Cam Operated Mechanical Fuel pump sat on 1.6 and 1.9 carb engines of BX/309/405 engines of 1.9 CCs and 80s eira!

Sorry, just an observation... :?
