Oh, is that a relay? I had already taken off the 2 bolts holding it, to inspect and clean. Good!

What's this?

Just wondering what this valve type thing is. It's connected to the manifold engine cover with a little rubber pipe, and on the other side has an electrical plug.

Anyone know what it is and what it does and if it were to break, what would happen?

That is the boost pressure transducer for the dashboard gauge.

After a mad week with work and the weather being so nice this weekend, I did some light car tinkering.
Yesterday I replaced the engine manifold. Nice and easy obviously. The reason being is I have a feeling the old one has split along the seam. It was getting quite oily. Could be my imagination, but using my spare will be an experiment to see if I am right or not. So far no more oil.
Then took It for a blast. Been ages since I had driven it. That car goes so well. Cold start is still good.

Today I decided to do some interior work. The dash surround with the clock and dot matrix had a crack in the corner by the clock. Also a bulb had blown behind the temp readout. So off that came and I replaced it with my spare. The crack had completely split. New bulb in and all is well. What I have found though, is this car has a lot of sand in it. In all sorts of odd places! So a little clean up inside sorted that out.
Swapped the hood binnacle too for my better spare one.
I tightened up the hydro belt to stop that squealing. Although it has been a bit better recently. And as it is that time now, I lubed up the sunroof to keep that going. A winter of being dormant has seen it slow a bit. But it still works great.

So really not much done, just fixing minor niggles that were annoying me.

Productive day then Russ, me and littlun spend the afternoon with the rotary and some vinyl, she was discovering the delights of the chalk she had picked up on our walk this morning, drawning on my newly washed hardstanding

Sort of Dean. My hydro pump tightening didn't work. Well it did, but what it's doing is pulling the pump over to one side and causing the belt to come out of alignment and therefore to squeal. So it might be adjusting the small pulley instead and lower the pump back into alignment.
