Re: Paul's 2.1Sd manual K47 BAN.. On the road
Ok.. done 200 miles since tuesday.. things noted..
Nearside wheel bearing buggered
Foot parking brake is stiff.. so either the cables to the calipers are buggered or the pivot on the equalizer that the cable from the foot lever hooks onto is partly siezed
Which ever it is im hoping its the contribution to the rubbish 31mpg or so.. the s2 td auto i used last month with bosch averaged 40.. so id expect the manual to do better..
Glove box needs sorting. Got a working strut.. just need a working release lever fitting...

Yes the fuel light is on.... BUT the Q is, what activates the Light??
The "Low Fuel" light comes on when the needle is at the NEXT LIGHT to the right!! IE: 2 quarters...
But shes far from low... is it a guage or level sender that does it???

The sender triggers the low fuel light.

Re: Paul's 2.1Sd manual K47 BAN.. On the road
Ok.. so its into the tank then.. ive got a can on the boot just incase i run out but im certain the needle goes to zero and still has fuel in.. annoying more then anything.. car is also still a bit flat. Theres no shove in the back like a manual should have.. need to possibly turn the pump up a bit. I also only get about half way on the boost guage on max throttle.. how much indicated boost do you get Will??

Hi Paul
This is how much I'm getting after repairing a split sender hose:
This equates to 0.8 bar on my mechanical boost gauge, which is spot on with the Citroen spec.

Re: Paul's 2.1Sd manual K47 BAN.. On the road
I think i need to tweek the fuel delivery a bit. The pump is directly off an L reg 2.1 auto because the original developed a leak after too much veggie was used.. i need to learn to seal them or experiment with xantia bosch pumps. Mind you i could now as the auto 2.1 is pumpless at the moment and i could do with getting her mobile..
I found 4 xantia bosch pumps at my small shed at my mothers the other week!!

For the price of a seal kit Paul learning to reseal them is the best way to go as Sod's law will be you fit another and find that the seals are gone after they have been sat for so long without use.

Re: Paul's 2.1Sd manual K47 BAN.. On the road
Glad to see K Ban is back on the road again Paul....and your driving an xm as a daily
Has it still got a super floaty ride? I remember it from when i drove it back up from Cosford that it was super soft
On the fuel economy thing, i drove with a seized front caliper on my old xantia td for a while, but dont remember fuel economy being affected to any noticeable degree...In fact it drove and braked so well it was only when the pad had gone that i noticed i had a problem
If the pump is set up and running right, are you confident the gauge is reading right?
The reason i say this is when i had veg running in mine the gauge was inaccurate...and so was the fuel warning light! So much so that one day the gauge was showing about where your photo is showing (cant remember if the light was on or not) and it cut out having run out of fuel! Luckily i was right near a filling station so i managed to splutter it into life and crawl into the forecourt.
Generally, once it got towards the first marker up from zero, the fuel gauge was so inaccurate so i switched to using that as the empty marker to avoid running out again.
Once i'd stopped using veg and it had cleaned itself back up again from diesel fill ups (took around 4 weeks for confidence to be restored) its fine again
I think overall then, if your calculating fuel economy based on how much you've put in against either the light or the needle? I'd clean the veg out and be happy with the readings before looking elsewhere...Just my opinion
