Right, time for an update on this... Shaun's friend, Ant, very kindly collected my sphere recharger...

In the advert on eBay there was a picture of a trolley with some hoses and pressure gauges on it... When collected, it's actually got a giant metal box to clamp the sphere's down in.

Can't wait to get it collected from Shaun now and have a play with it.

Certainly seems like an interesting bit of kit for a tenner!

Quite some bit of kit. Exciting! Have you managed to find any documentation/instructions for it?

wrong
that large metal box is for testing and setting up ignition distributors ( or maybe Haggis lobbing  :) ;) ) back in the 70's and 80's,

it has a rev counter and vacuum gauge,

this device was quite useful for setting up cassette points distributors

if you dont want/need it would you consider selling it on????, preferably before it goes toooooo far north Aki the noooooo

regards malcolm

Well, the sphere charger has landed... It's a great tool and everything is there :D

It's got the complete trolley that the gas bottle sits on...

Image

The sphere screws into the side of the trolley so that it's secured whilst your regassing it...

Image

There's a pipe that runs from the socket that the sphere is mounted into and runs into a bottle to collect the LHM...

Image

The gauges are complete, one of the gauges shows the pressure left in the gas bottle and the other shows the pressure in the sphere...

Image

The valve goes into the tool as below and is screwed onto it...

Image

The genuine Citroen valves are identical to the tecnosir ones that you can still buy... :D

Image

However... The best bit is the original genuine Citroen instructions are with it...

Image

The 3rd page shows the pressures for a couple of models of sphere...

Image

The 4th page shows the insturctions for using the charger...

Image

I've got a masssive pile of spheres here that I need to sort out, I'll work out which ones I've got that are genuine Citroen ones and bin the rest.

Fortunately it's to big to fit in the car with a gas bottle on it at rallies so it won't be leaving the workshop I'm afraid!

Replacement valves and the tools to remove the green bungs can be purchase from Tecnosir...

http://www.tecnosir.com/attrezzature_c720.php?lang=en" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

The valve I've got has Tecnosir written on it which is handy :)

Nice tool, I could have done with that when I first started running hydropnumatics about 30 years ago. :(

What a bargain! - and instructions, too.
Presumably Tecnosir made the recharge valves for Citroen...or were they copies?
Did most Citroen workshops have one of these? My Surrey experience was that they didn't, and preferred to sell new, or point the owner to a Citroen indy.
