Headlamp Washers in Action

Post by eifion » Sat Nov 07, 2015 10:57 pm

Ten years of XM ownership and I finally own one with working headlamp washers. I didn't realise until today that they rise up when they wash and this has entertained me far more than it should so I've uploaded a very short video of it to YouTube. I'm either easily pleased or XMs have affected my sanity.

I think that's cool too, but need the relay to make mine work - are they a common item or is it another search for hens teeth?

Citroen certainly went to extraordinary lengths to ensure that the water jet hit the spot, presumably at any road speed. I am always amazed it wasn't done by more simple means.

Yes eifion... they are great arent they.. cant remember if I told you they worked or not.. but I should of..

xantia ones are they same on s2 exclusives.. they lift up .. and on c5s when they have them they protrude out the humper and then retract flat again..

No its not just you Eifion, I do love the headlight washers, the way they shoot up and then gradually retract.
I also find the 'WOOOM' noise they make when activating very satisfying, to the point where I will often wash the lights far more times than is necessary and then wonder why the reservoir is empty, again.

I also like it when people in other cars or passers by notice the headlight washers working and look in awe / fear.

I think your video would make a great animated GIF, but sadly anything remotely image / drawing related is the one thing I just cannot do with a computer. Maybe someone substantially more graphically skilled than I can help. Russ?

I want to be a train driver when I grow up.

The XM ones are OK but in the world of headlamp washers they are way down the list these days
