Breaking 2.1td Silver Exclusive series 2

Selling off one (or bits :o) of your XM collection, or perhaps searching for those elusive headlight washer covers? This is the place to do it.

Impressive work on removing those sills. A description of how it was done would be interesting to read. Shame indeed to scrap the auto box - something i'd also be interested in were it removed. steve

The easiest method is to use a multitool with vibrating blade, but a cheesewire works, as would cutting enough metal out around to get a sharp knife of hacksaw blade in.

Myself and frederick used a cheesewire ont he rear quarter windows.

I had visions of trying to get an angle grinder. with thin disc. under the sill, then cut along the whole length - whilst also trying to keep your fingers intact i.e. Whiirrr....bzzzzzzzz.....zzzinnng... oh sh***t that hurt!

Considering the impending fate of the car I can't see the point in messing about with the rear windows. Angle grinder all way round it, sort it out later.

Are the front hubs still on offer??? Though someone on here has requested the need for a front ABS sensor for his S1/5, this one will have the correct sensors for his car on it..

A angle grinder was used to remove the sills, but it did require around 20 discs and a great deal of skill by Dave!! The cutting route was planned to avoid double and triple skin metal where possible and especially around the rear wheel arches and the other tricky sections were against the front jacking points and floor projections for the seats! Needless to say the second side was somewhat easier. I know Dave plans to remove the front hubs Paul and I am also hoping that the drive shafts and front corner-centre suspension pipes might be saved. Regards, Matthew T.

It was indeed a bit of a mission with the angle grinder, and it was easier once I had done the one side. I will have a crack at removing the hubs tomorrow and hopefully the pipes also.

Possibly Dave has the badges that were not on the wings! Regards, Matthew T.
