for sale Jaap's Turbo Diesel ...

Selling off one (or bits :o) of your XM collection, or perhaps searching for those elusive headlight washer covers? This is the place to do it.

Jaap's Turbo Diesel ...

Post by Riverhead » Sat Jun 04, 2016 3:46 pm

Thanks Y'all.
Yes it drives lovely. Much better drive than I expected from the auto box.
When the bushes go in it will make it much better.
Tends to wander.
He did so much work if had to be worth keeping. Engine seems very sweet.
Not a bit of smoke.
I'll keep ye informed.

Well it failed as expected on all the wishbone bushes.
Nothing else was picked up on I was delighted to say.
Has anyone changed these bushes before?
Should I go with main dealer parts or spurious?
Any tips on getting the bushes pressed?
Thanks
Huw

It does tend to sink in the back every time I brake.
The accumulator is clicking every 5 seconds so I reckon that's the issue.
I've one from a Xantia. 1.9td.
Are they similar?

There are currently NOS wishbones on ebay for about £75 each.
New bushes will cost around half this and then need fitting.
Be aware that rear bush failures on these arms are often not the rubber.
The bush support base is alloy and has been known to break up.
These items are no longer available so scrap cars are the only source.

Fitting isn't too bad a job.
Cut the old ones off with an angle grinder slit through then drive them off. Drive the new ones on with a tubular drift against the central steel.

Hi John
Do you have a listing number for the wishbone? I see the Peugeot 406 but not the XM.
Thanks

Any opinion on the accumulator sphere from a Xantia?

Hi john
They only have one.
I'm going to go with new rubbers.
I had both sides off in an hour. Was surprised how nicely they came out.
I'll try the sphere
Thanks again
