Greetings everyone!

I learned of this forum from the San Francisco Citroën club. I'm currently shopping for my first Citroën, specifically a pre-facelift XM. I'll be in Europe for a couple weeks at the end of April, where I plan to buy an XM to ship back to the States. For now, I've joined my local club and am spending my time researching and learning. I hope I'll be able to share photos of my XM here soon!

Hi Jayson,
A good choice of Citroen to pick as a classic and extremely rare in the Usa.
We have a couple of members in Usa, so you wouldn't be too alone.
For the best selection of LHD, series 1 Xm, I would look for a car in France, as they don't suffer from rust.
The main thing to be bothered about is body condition, the mechanicals are pretty durable.
I suspect you will be looking for a V6-12v, either auto or manual gearbox, or a V6-24v manual.
The 12v is generally more durable.

Hi Jayson - Glad the SF club give you the info I gave to Dave Bruckman a little while back. From what David told me there a couple of other XM owners in the Bay Area. Me thinks Pauline and I have the only one in Southern California :). Would suggest you get in touch with Andre Pol (https://citroen-andre.com) - he along with Dave Burnham in NY were the ones that got the XM federalized in the US. And a used XM from Andre is going be in good condition as well last walking you through importation and getting through the California bureaucracy.......
