Dear Members, greetings from Cyprus!

Happy to join this honorable community. I have just got XM 2.0 manual, 1992. I was a teenager as XM was introduced. I always liked its design and some engineering features.

Let me ask you for advice where can I find this plastic holder of clutch cable (under hood close to clutch fork). I wanted to post pictures but it does not attach because of some reason. Is there any requirements to file format?.

I researched this issue by myself, talked to a guy keeping XM used parts shop in continental Europe (BTW he does not know this part as probably all his XMs are left hand drive). But I did not find anything meaningful.

Thank you in advance,

Serge

Hi Serge, Welcome.

The plastic clutch cable jointer, which do break, is what is known as a Bell-crank, only fitted to Rhd Xm, due to the tight space behind the engine.

The options are really:
A. Be lucky enough to find a cable with one installed. P# for the complete cable is 2150J6, or 2150J8, both for Be3 gearbox. Any Rhd Xm cable will have the part you need.
B. Find an engineering machinist to make one for you. They are made from Acetal, but upgrading to metal is worthwhile.
C. Repair the old part using metal fabricated round it.

It's fairly unusual for the 2.0 petrol to break these as the clutch is lighter, is your clutch still serviceable and all pivots lubricated?

See thread and posts about Bell-cranks. It's worth you reading all the posts linked to as they will give advice on how to easily remove/install the clutch cable.

Tell us more about your car, I'm assuming it was imported from somewhere else, does it have Hydractive?

Pictures can be attached in pretty well any Img format, just be careful of file size, I think 10Mb is the limit. Alternatively, link to externally hosed ones.

I've just tried an image and it appears we have an issue with attaching those at present, Ill alert Admin.
