During my researches (primarily into prices), it became clear that the chances of any Break coming on the market in a road-worthy state were small - non-existent with the 2.0TCT, vanishingly small with the 2.1TD; while all the time I kept seeing an advert for an 'absolutely cracking' late V6 Exclusive in amazing original condition, though for rather more than any XM had fetched in recent years in the UK. When the price was dropped for quick sale, I had to go and see it. A no brainer - the chances of another as good coming on the market seemed slim. Carpe Diem (literally Seize the Day)
A 'Presidential express' - I think V6 Exclusives (or the equivalent) were the official (French) Presidential cars from about 1990 to the launch of the C6; if I'm mistaken, someone will correct me. Lovely straight roads and Gendarmerie out-riders to clear the way for Giscard D'Estaing'...
I am sorely tempted to take her on tour in France - perhaps this time next year.

I have not seen that the XM was ever used as the official presidential car, they preferred the Peugeot 605 for not being a hatchback. I am sure that there were several XMs in the government garages.
